Mark Festival 2016

Devonshire Mark Benevolent Fund 2016 Festival Newsletter

Issue 2
January 2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO ALL THE MARK BRETHREN OF DEVONSHIRE

Welcome to this the second Festival Newsletter, issued a little earlier than originally intended, but with much to report we thought better to issue now rather than delay so you are all aware of what is happening. Please make certain ALL is reported to your Lodge brethren.

You will have or soon will be contacted by the Liaison Representative appointed to assist you and your Lodge throughout the Festival period.
Details of names and contact information are at the end of the newsletter.

You should contact them with any queries/requests, and details of news items and events that your own Lodge or local Lodges have or are planning, they/we are here to give you EVERY assistance, to reach our joint aim namely to
FUN-draise for the Festival and most importantly to ENJOY doing so.

Many THANKS from the Festival Committee for your involvement so far AND for the work to come.

Sincerely & Fraternally
Trevor Jenkins & John Clendinning

Brethren, you cannot have spent any time in the Province of Devonshire over the last few months and not know that there is a growing undercurrent of excitement across Devonshire Mark Province.
R.W. Bro. Peter Hawken, MBE. GMRAC, the Provincial Grand Master (pictured left) is urging us to consider the 2016 Festival and the way in which Mark Masons in the Province can make
“FUN-draising Fun!”

With that one instruction Brethren, you are encouraged to organise social events, parties, (wild?) and wonderful events with the aims to obey the instruction......
“Have Fun!  and in doing so,  raise as much money as you can
for the  2016 Festival.”

________________________________________________

Does the thought of arranging a ‘Lodge do’ fill you with worries?
Has this always been done by the Social Committee (if you’re lucky to have one!) or Secretary?

Well now is the time for your Suggestions for your Lodge to help raise the FUN-ds
If you have but don’t know where to start with how about dipping into

Duncan’s Dits

Duncan’s dits!

Your invaluable source of ideas for
FUN- draising!

How about organising a casino night, or a horse racing night, or a quiz night?  How about challenges to your local lodges to a bowls or other sporting event? Car boot sales?
Think about low cost outlay for your event, but look to maximizing your profits!
If you need assistance or want some help in supporting or advertising your events for the 2016 Festival….

’who ya gonna call….?’

Peter’s Progress!!!!  From South to North with the PGM

Taking his cue from the intrepid explorers, Scott, Amundsen, and the latter day Ranulph Fiennes, our Provincial Grand Master intends to don his walking boots and trek North from Base Camp Plymouth in search of Mark Masons and the Bristol Channel!  He is looking for sponsors to help boost the coffers!
Over the last One hundred and Fifty Years, staging posts have been erected by diligent Masons in strategic locations throughout the Province to provide sustenance and support.  For our PGM it may mean a plaster or two and a medicinal Guinness!

The PGM will warmly welcome walkers to join him on legs of the walk (pun intended), or the whole journey.
If walking is too much perhaps we can run a sweep-stake on how long it takes to do each section?
